Using AI to speak to your computer

This week in Practical AI for Partners, we talk about my favorite use of AI; dictation:

I watched my son search YouTube and he uses his voice to search.  He doesn’t type anything.  This inspired me to figure out a way to do this on my Mac because I use voice to text on my phone and it is so easy. Why can’t I do this everywhere on my computer?

We create a voice-to-text dictation tool for your computer using a local copy of OpenAI’s whisper and python.

When you press the left option button it will transcribe everything you say until you let go of the key.
